In our restaurant Arvenbüel we spoil our guests with delicious homemade specialities. Step into our cosy parlour or take a seat on the sunny terrace amidst green meadows, just like in Heidiland. We look forward to seeing you!

Breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper

In our restaurant we always have a suitable place for you:

  • You just arrived by bus and would like a coffee with a freshly baked croissant before a long hike?
  • Would you like to enjoy a small lunch on our sun terrace, for example a sausage made according to Grandfather Rüedi's recipe with a fine rösti?
  • Are you a little hungry in the afternoon or simply in the mood for a sweet delicacy? Our kitchen offers various small dishes and many delicious desserts between 2 pm and 5:30 pm.
  • Or would you like to make yourself comfortable in our dining room in the evening and let us spoil you with a fine menu? How about our homemade poultry liver terrine as a starter or the salmon duet with home-smoked and home-pickled salmon? As a main course we can warmly recommend the freshly caught whitefish fillets from the Lake (Walensee) baked in the chef's style with herb foam; or perhaps the tender veal medallions in a fine citrus sauce, with our homemade pasta and Mediterranean vegetables. Our head chef and his experienced team always strive to prepare all dishes in optimal quality with the best taste. We not only rely on a lot of manual work in our kitchen, but also on high-quality products from our suppliers.

The fact that all dishes in our kitchen are homemade from scratch can also be confirmed by the many regular restaurant guests who find their way to the top time and time again:

It's like coming home after a long absence. We feel very comfortable in the Arvenbüel, are always warmly welcomed and the cuisine is excellent. Here it is not only written that everything is homemade – everything IS homemade and you can taste it!

Arvenbüeler plum cake – and other sweet temptations

When the temperatures start to cool down in autumn, our house speciality is in high season: plum cake with a nut shortcrust pastry. This cake is so popular with our guests that we bake it fresh every day, not only in autumn, but all year round. We process over a tonne of plums every year for this speciality alone!

Our tip: if you're going to the Arvenbüel especially for the plum cake, you'd better be on the safe side and reserve a piece by phone. Because the motto is: “first come first served” – and fresh again tomorrow!

Of course, the plum cake is not our only sweet treat. The many different coupes on the dessert menu offer just the right cooling in summer on the beautiful sun terrace. The ice cream is of course homemade, just like all our cakes, tarts and pastries!


Cosiness – indoors and outdoors

In our parlour and in the saloon, cosiness is written large. We want you to feel comfortable with us, almost like at home.

A highlight is our large sun terrace, where we also serve you on beautiful winter days. Here you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the mountains. For the children there is a large playground right next to the restaurant.

The restaurant, the terrace and the toilets are wheelchair accessible.


Opening hours

The Arvenbüel restaurant is open from the end of April to mid-March. The current summer season started on April 27th 2024.

Monday is a day of rest, except on public holidays, between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day and during the winter sports holidays.

The restaurant is closed from 5 pm on December 24th.

The restaurant opens at 8 am.
From 11:30 am to 2 pm and from 6 pm to about 8 pm we serve from our large à la carte menu. In the afternoon we offer a small selection of cold and warm dishes.

Means of payment

  • We appreciate payment of your bill in cash.
  • Amounts under CHF 20.00 must always be paid in cash.
  • Postcard and Maestro /EC-Direkt are also welcome means of payment for amounts of CHF 20.00 or more.
  • Visa and Mastercard credit cards are accepted for amounts of CHF 50.00 or more.
  • Payment by credit card is not possible for banquets.
