The Rüedi family

a family with visions and a large portion of hospitality in the blood

The Hotel and Restaurant Arvenbüel is a family business, which is already run by Barbara Rüedi in the third generation. The philosophy has remained the same as with her grandfather: a warm atmosphere in the hotel and excellent quality food at a very good price-performance ratio. The whole family is committed to the well-being of the guests.

André Rüedi – the head of the family and for 50 years at Arvenbüel

I have been here at Arvenbüel for 50 years now. I am still happy when I can pursue my passion, cooking. I love my work and I still enjoy coming to help out.

Silvia Rüedi – the good soul in the house and family manager

Back in the 70's I came to dance with my friends to the Arvenbüel. This is where I met André. I have been at Arvenbüel for 45 years now and I still like to come and help from time to time. In the meantime, I enjoy being a grandma and looking after Franziska's children twice a week.

Barbara Rüedi – the first-born and today's managing director

I went to school in Amden and grew up here in Arvenbüel. My childhood home was the restaurant. I learned how to deal with guests at a very early age. As a child, I didn't always enjoy it as much as I do today. Nevertheless, it was a good school for life and this enabled me to find a unique training company: I did my training as a restaurant specialist with Brigitte and Roland Jöhri at the Hotel Haus Paradies in Ftan in the Lower Engadine and at Jöhri’s Talvó in Champfèr near St. Moritz in the Upper Engadine. I finished my apprenticeship as the best in the canton. I attended the hotel school in Lucerne.

Many jobs in Switzerland and abroad filled my backpack with experience and knowledge. In April 2012 I returned home after 22 years and took over the management of my parents' business. Visionary thinking was in my cradle. I was the initiator of the “Amden-Arvenbüel golf course project”.

I am very much looking forward to your visit! Sincerely - Barbara Rüedi

Gaby – the second born and mother of two rascals

I still like to think back to my childhood and youth at Arvenbüel, where I came into contact with the hospitality industry at an early age. A trade to which I have remained loyal to this day and which has taken me from my apprenticeship in Buriet / Thal to various seasonal positions and even to a one-year engagement in the USA. Back in Switzerland, I successfully graduated from the Belvoirpark Hotel School in Zurich and have since been working, with small interruptions, in various functions at Marina Gastro AG in Lachen SZ.

In my private life I enjoy spending time with my family in nature, biking or hiking.

True to the motto, "too many cooks spoil the broth", I retired from Arvenbüel a few years ago, but I always like to return to my roots.

Franziska – “the straggler” and whirlwind of the family

As a latecomer I was always spoiled by my two sisters. I enjoyed a wonderful childhood at Arvenbüel and, above all, a super cool time at school in Amden. Helping out in the business as a child was more of a duty for me at that time, but I benefit from it all the more today - a huge privilege.

I completed my apprenticeship in Uznach as a saleswoman in consumer electronics. After my apprenticeship, I was able to gain valuable experience in a variety of professions. Despite this, I was always drawn back to Arvenbüel because I can't imagine a more varied job: whether in the kitchen, in service, at the buffet or in hotel operations - I do everything and do it with pleasure. I really appreciate the contact with our guests, as many of them have known me since I was very young.

Today I am a mommy of two wonderful children and I only work two days and on busy weekends in the business. Sometimes Kim and Nino are allowed to come along. Then they are looked after by Grandma and spoiled by the staff with ice cream or “Würschtli” (sausages), which of course pleases them very much.
